In a demanding environment like Pankaboard's, the availability of rotating machines and systematic operations are critical. The focus shifted from fault detection to root-cause prevention: the goal is not only to identify a damaged machine component, but to prevent the failure from occurring. Through more effective lubrication routines and the elimination of additional load factors, operations moved from reactive repairs to true preventive maintenance and extended asset life. Pankaboard is a Finnish specialty board manufacturer based in Lieksa. Its production relies on sustainability and long-standing industrial expertise. The mill produces folding boxboard, specialty boards, and pulp-based food packaging boards. The facility has two board machines, producing approximately 65,000 tonnes of groundwood-based folding boxboard and about 55,000 tonnes of uncoated specialty boards annually.
Today, monthly route measurements for 200 assets take only a single working day.
